What are the Benefits of Anthracite Coal?

Hotter

Anthracite burns hotter than gas, oil, pellets, or wood. It produces an even heat and higher level of BTU's compared to other fuels

Cleaner

Anthracite burns very clean with virtually no smoke or particulate emissions. Anthracite emissions are below the EPA's minimum/maximum requirements making anthracite one of the cleanest burning heating fuels available

Safer

There is no risk of a chimney fire due to creosote build up as anthracite does not produce any creosote. There are no worries about gas or fuel leaks and anthracite is ideal for long-term storage

Easier

It comes in convenient 40 pound handled bags making it easy to carry. Anthracite stoves require less maintenance and have fewer parts to replace than other stove types

What is Anthracite?

All coal is not the same. Anthracite is a highly carbonated form of clean-burning coal that is different from the more commonly known bituminous (soft) coal.

Anthracite was formed during the Carboniferous Age, when the dense green vegetation that thrived during the tropical climate of the time fossilized. Today, anthracite is the oldest, hardest, and cleanest type of coal.

Anthracite has been providing even, comfortable heating in homes, schools, hospitals, office buildings, military bases and other institutions throughout the United States and other parts of the world for nearly 180 years.
